We think you deserve a break, so we’re all set to welcome you here at our rural retreat. We offer the ideal countryside get-away, surrounded by the tranquil fields of our third-generation family farm near the village of Christian Malford in Wiltshire.
Our fully-equipped, beautifully appointed and very dog-friendly glamping pods and shepherds hut each have private bathrooms, and if you want to bring along your horse or pony, we can offer them first class accommodation at our on-site livery.
Down here on our farm relaxing and unwinding is a real family affair, with plenty to see and do in the area if you get tired of sitting with your feet up.
Even getting here is easy, because we are just a short hop from the M4 motorway. Leave at Junction 17 for Chippenham, segue onto the B4122 then follow the B4069 to our village, and you’ll find us beside the River Avon.
Explore our local village, Christian Malford, or take off to discover nearby famous destinations like the Lacock & Malmesbury Abbeys, Highgrove House, and the unique rustic charm of the Cotswolds.
The Retreat Glamping site is part of Mermaid Farm, home to the Biggin family and an assortment of equines – horses, donkeys, a Shetland pony and miniature American horse – as well as a variety of wild creatures, including deer, hares and rabbits.
We’ve designed our glamping pods and shepherds hut to provide home comforts and a little luxury, each with a balcony, small kitchen and outside toilet/shower unit, so there’s no having to share facilities.
We’ve positioned the pods to face the morning sun, so you can enjoy your coffee on your own balcony as the day dawns, or light up a barbecue at the end of a carefree day.
Our Wiltshire glamping pods are delightfully adaptable, so we can cater for families by combining two pods (one sleeping three and one sleeping two), or we can offer a romantic retreat for couples in their own comfy space. The shepherds hut sleeps 2 with availability to have a third person on a separate mattress.
Our farming activities include a popular livery stable, so if you’re bringing your equine friend along for the ride, we’ll be happy to provide stabling, field space and plenty of parking for your horse-box. We’re usually very busy with horsey guests during the Badminton Horse Trials (held not very far away from us) in May – so make sure you book early.
As your hosts at The Retreat, we’ll be on hand to help with anything you need to make your stay as pleasant as possible, and give you all the information you require to make the most of our local area.
